Climbing Wall & Bouldering Wall

On August 26th, 2019, Ole Miss Outdoors opened a brand-new climbing facility, featuring a 35-foot, 360-degree climbing wall and a 70 linear-foot bouldering wall, located in the South Campus Recreation Center. These amenities provide a new and unique level of fitness and challenge for novice and advanced climbers. Students and members with a Climb Pass may access the climbing area during Open Climbing hours. If you are not a student or member, please click here for membership and guest information.

Climbing Hours 

Spring 2020 Hours:
Monday-Thursday: 3pm-9pm
Friday: 2pm-6pm
Saturday: 1pm-4pm
Sunday: 4pm-7pm
*Hours apply January 21-May 8
*Closed on holidays & limited hours during Spring Break.

Spring Break Hours:
-Saturday, March 7th – Bouldering Only 12pm-3pm
-Sunday, March 8th – Bouldering Only 12pm-3pm
-Monday, March 9th – Bouldering Wall & Climbing Tower 4pm-6pm
-Tuesday, March 10th – Bouldering Wall & Climbing Tower 4pm-6pm
-March 11th-14th – SCRC Closed
-Sunday, March 15th – Resume normal hours

*In order to prepare for the Bouldering Competition on March 29th, the entire climbing area will be closed Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th. In order to make up some time for these closures, we will have extended hours on Saturday, March 21st (11am-4pm) & Sunday, March 22nd (4pm-9pm). 


Orientation Video, Belay Clinics, & Policies

First time climbers must view the orientation video before climbing; the video must be viewed in the Ole Miss Outdoors office in the presence of an OMOD staff member.  If participants want to belay, they must enroll in a free belay clinic and pass the belay test.  These clinics are offered every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.  Belay clinics are limited to 4 participants, and participants should register on the CR App or in the OMOD Office in the South Campus Rec Center during normal operating hours.  Click here for climbing wall and bouldering wall policies.


Group Reservations

Registered Student Organizations, University Departments, and approved External Users may request to reserve the Climbing Wall for private climbing sessions.  Approved External Users must sign a user agreement. Climbing wall group rates are found below. Climbing Wall may only be reserved outside of normal operating hours.  To reserve the Wall for your group, click here to submit the online reservation form and you will receive a confirmation email if your request is approved, or the Ole Miss Outdoors staff will contact you if your requested date is unavailable. All requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the requested session date.  Reservation fees may be paid by departmental account transfer, cash, check, Visa, or Mastercard. Kids Climb Clinic

Every Saturday in February | 11am -12pm
$40 per child for members| $50 per child for non-members

Children ages 8-15 are invited to enroll in the Kids Climb Clinic hosted by Ole Miss Outdoors. This five-session clinic will be held every Saturday in February from 11am – 12pm at the South Campus Recreation Center Climbing Wall. During each session, children will learn basic climbing and bouldering skills and techniques, and practice climbing the tower and bouldering wall. The clinic sessions are taught by our trained staff members, and children will be supervised at all times. Space is limited to 12 participants, and the cost covers all five sessions. Parents/guardians must complete a waiver for their child and stay on site in the outdoors office lounge area during the sessions.


Creating Account & Registering for Open Climb

STUDENTS:
Students must purchase a Climb Pass ($5 one time, $20 semester, or $35 fall+spring) or a Pass Bundle (click here for more information about bundling your Climb Pass with a Fit and/or Pay Pass or for information on group discounts).  Students will use the OleMissCR app to access the climbing area during open climb times.  Here are the instructions to create an account, obtain a Climb Pass, and sign up for Open Climbing sessions:

via smartphone:

  1. Download the OleMissCR app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Click “Login Via Portal” and sign in using your UM WebID and Password.
  3. On the “Network” page (home page), click the “Fitness & Climbing” widget.
  4. Select “Open Climbing”.
  5. Click the “Join Session” bar.
  6. Check the indication box on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  7. Click “Next.”
  8. Click “Sign Up.”
  9. If you would like to purchase a pass bundle, click here to purchase. Once your bundle is purchased, the passes will be manually added to your OleMissCR account.  Once you receive a confirmation email, then follow steps 3-8 to register for open climb.
  10. If purchasing just the Climb Pass, the first time you register, follow the prompt to submit credit card payment.  Students may select from the following Climb Pass options: $5 one time, $20 semester, or $35 annual (fall & spring).
  11. Check-in at via the app at the OMOD Office when you arrive to climb.

via desktop:

  1. Create/login to your profile. Click here to create profile or login.
  2. Hover over University of Mississippi drop down tab (top left) and click “Fitness & Climbing”
  3. Scroll down to select an open class using the “Sign Up” button.
  4. Click the “Sign Up” bar on the session description page.
  5. Click the “Accept” button on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  6. Click “Sign Up” again.
  7. Click “Buy Now” and submit credit card payment.
  8. Register for Open Climbing times on the app, available that morning.
  9. Check-in at the OMOD Office once you arrive to climb.

FACULTY & STAFF MEMBERS:
Faculty and Staff Members will receive climb pass instructions via email. Upon creation of your OleMissCR account, Campus Recreation will manually add the climb pass.  Here are the instructions to create an account, obtain a Climb Pass, and sign up for sessions:

Community Members will receive climb pass instructions via email. Upon creation of your OleMissCR account, Campus Recreation will manually add the Climb Pass to your account. Here are the instructions to create an account, obtain a Climb Pass, and sign up for sessions:

via smartphone:

  1. Download the OleMissCR app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Click Create Account in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Input a NON-SCHOOL EMAIL, your first name, last name and desired password. Click “Next.”
  4. DO NOT select a school (leave OleMissCR in search bar). Select the gender you most identify as, select other as your status, and input your birthday. Click “Create Account.”
  5. You will receive an error message that states you cannot automatically join the network, but that you can send a request to be approved by an administrator at your school. Click “Send Request”.
  6. Log into your NON-SCHOOL EMAIL and open the email from IMLeagues. Click the verify account and sign in button. This will open your account in the OleMissCR app.
  7. Please wait for an administrator to approve your request to join the school – if after two business day you have not been granted access, please email alalpert@olemiss.edu to notify staff that your request has been sent.
  8. Once access is granted to the OleMissCR app, you should receive an acceptance email from IMLeagues.
  9. Use the link to log into the app using the NON-SCHOOL EMAIL and access your Climb Pass.
  10. Register for “Open Climbing” on the app, available that morning.
  11. Check-in at the OMOD Office once you arrive to climb.

REFUNDS:

One Time Pass Refund:

In the event that an activity is cancelled and a participant has already applied their one-time pass, they will be able to apply it to another activity or claim a refund within 2 weeks of cancellation by emailing omod@olemiss.edu. 

Unlimited Semester Pass & Unlimited Annual Pass Refunds:

A participant may request a refund for an unlimited semester pass or unlimited annual pass up to 2 weeks after their pass purchase so long as the pass has not been applied to any activity. 


Student Employment

To become a climbing wall attendant or supervisor, students must complete the Campus Recreation hiring process (click here). Certifications Required: Belay & Wall Training and American Red Cross First Aid/CPR.
