Climbing Wall & Bouldering Wall

Ole Miss Outdoors operates the 35-foot, 360-degree climbing wall and 70 linear-foot bouldering wall, located in the South Campus Recreation Center. These amenities provide a new and unique level of fitness and challenge for novice and advanced climbers. Students and members with a Climb Pass may access the climbing area during Open Climbing hours. If you are not a student or member, please click here for membership and guest information.

Current Policies & Procedures: 

  • Effective immediately, the university will require face coverings in indoor public spaces on campus, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are not required outdoors. In Campus Recreation facilities, patrons may remove face coverings at their exercise station(s) or climbing wall.
  • Climbers must hold a current Climb Pass.
    • Student climb passes are $20 for the fall semester.
    • Climb passes are included with 6-month and 12-month faculty, staff, and community memberships. 
    • Climb passes may be purchased by 3-month, comped, and student spouse members via Touchnet. These members will receive the Touchnet link from member services at the same time they are sent the touchnet link to pay for their membership.

  • Climbers must register for an open climb session on the CR App and can arrive and depart at any time during the open climb time.
  • Climbers should enter through the SCRC front entrance and swipe their ID at the control desk before checking in at the OMOD office.

 

Climbing Wall Programs & Events

Climbing Wall Group Reservations

Climbing Wall group reservations are available for Registered Student Organizations and University Departments outside of normal operating hours.  To reserve the course for your group, click here to submit the facility request form. You will receive an confirmation email if your request is approved, or the graduate assistant will contact you should your requested date be unavailable. Please submit all requests at least two weeks prior to the requested session date.

Instructions for Climbers

Students:

Students must purchase a Climb Pass and use the OleMissCR app to access the climbing area during open climb times.

Step 1: Create Your Account & Obtain Climb Pass

App Instructions:

  • Download the OleMissCR app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Click “Login Via Portal” and sign in using your UM WebID and Password.
  • On the “Network” page (home page), click the “Climbing” widget.
  • Select “Open Climb”.
  • Click the “Join Session” bar.
  • Check the indication box on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Next.”
  • Click “Sign Up.”
  • If purchasing just the Climb Pass, the first time you register, follow the prompt to submit credit card payment.

Desktop Instructions:

  • Click here to create your profile or login.
  • Hover over University of Mississippi drop down tab (top left) and click “Climbing”
  • Scroll down to select an open class using the “Sign Up” button.
  • Click the “Sign Up” bar on the session description page.
  • Click the “Accept” button on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Sign Up” again.
  • Click “Buy Now” and submit credit card payment.

Step 2: Sign Up for Open Climb Sessions

App Instructions:

  • Open the OleMissCR app.
  • On the “Network” page (home page), click the “Climbing” widget.
  • Select “Open Climb”
  • Click the “Join Session” bar.
  • Check the indication box on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Next.”
  • Click “Sign Up.”
  • Once you arrive to climb, enter the main entrance of the SCRC, scan your ID at the control desk, then check-in at the OMOD Office.

Desktop Instructions:

  • Click here to login to your profile.
  • Hover over University of Mississippi drop down tab (top left) and click “Climbing”.
  • Scroll down to select Open Climb using the “Sign Up” button.
  • Click the “Sign Up” bar on the session description page.
  • Click the “Accept” button on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Sign Up” again.
  • Once you arrive to climb, enter the main entrance of the SCRC, scan your ID at the control desk, then check-in at the OMOD Office.

Faculty/Staff Campus Recreation Members:

(Included in 6mo/12mo membership)

Step 1: Create your account on the OleMissCR App or from your desktop 

App Instructions:

  • Download the OleMissCR App from the Google Play Store or Apple Store
  • Select “Login via Portal,” use your Ole Miss webID and password & update information.

Desktop Instructions:

  • Visit www.IMLeagues.com/OleMiss
  • Select the green “Create Account” button in the top right corner, use your Ole Miss webID and password & update information.

Step 2: Get the CR Member Pass added to your account

  • Email memberservices@olemiss.edu once you’ve completed Step 1 or if you already have an account.
  • The CR Member Pass will manually be added to your account, granting you access to register for open climb sessions.

Step 3: Register for Open Climb Sessions

App Instructions:

  • On the “Network” page (home page), click the “Climbing” widget.
  • Select an “Open Climb” session the day you wish to participate.
  • Click the “Join Session” bar.
  • Check the indication box on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Next.”
  • Click “Sign Up.”
  • Do not pay if prompted;
  • Once you arrive to climb, enter the main entrance of the SCRC, scan your ID at the control desk, then check-in at the OMOD Office.

Desktop Instructions:

  • Select the  “Climbing” tab below the main header at the top of the page.
  • Select an Open Climb session the day you wish to participate by clicking the green “Sign Up” button.
  • Click the green “Sign Up” bar on the session description page.
  • Click the “Accept” button on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Sign Up” again.
  • Do not pay if prompted;
  • Once you arrive to climb, enter the main entrance of the SCRC, scan your ID at the control desk, then check-in at the OMOD Office.

Campus Recreation Members without an @olemiss.edu email

(Included in 6mo/12mo membership)

Step 1: Create your account on the OleMissCR App or from your desktop 

App Instructions:

  • Download the OleMissCR App from the Google Play Store or Apple Store
  • Click “Create Account” in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Input a NON-SCHOOL EMAIL, your name and desired password. Click “Next.”
  • DO NOT select a school (leave OleMissCR in search bar). Select the gender you most identify as, select other as your status, and input your birthday. Click “Create Account”
  • You will receive an error message that states you cannot automatically join the network, but that you can send a request to be approved by an administrator at your school. Click “Send Request”.
  • You will receive an email to activate your account, follow the link in the email, this will open your account in the OleMissCR app.

Desktop Instructions:

  • Visit www.IMLeagues.com/olemiss/registration
  • Select “GUEST REGISTRATION” and complete all information
    • Use a non-university email address.
    • Select “CR Community Member” as your classification
    • Select “none” as your grad year.
  • Click “Create Account”.
  • A box will pop up asking you to submit a request to join our school, select the green “submit” button.
  • You will receive an email to activate your account, follow the link in the email, you will be redirected to IMLeagues.

Step 2: Receive access to the Climb Pass

  • Please wait for an administrator to approve your request to join the school;
    • If after two business days you have not been granted access, or if you already have an account that was previously approved, please email memberservices@olemiss.edu
  • Passes will be manually added to your account and you will receive email confirmation
    • Anyone able to safely fit into a harness will be eligible for open climb sessions with parent/guardian supervision if under the age of 18.

Step 3: Register for Open Climb Sessions

App Instructions:

  • On the “Network” page (home page), click the “Climbing” widget.
  • Select an “Open Climb” session the day you wish to participate.
  • Click the “Join Session” bar.
  • Check the indication box on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Next.”
  • Click “Sign Up.”
  • Do not pay if prompted;
  • Once you arrive to climb, enter the main entrance of the SCRC, scan your ID at the control desk, then check-in at the OMOD Office.

Desktop Instructions:

  • Select the “Climbing” tab below the main header at the top of the page
  • Select an Open Climb session the day you wish to participate by clicking the green “Sign Up” button.
  • Click the green “Sign Up” bar on the session description page.
  • Click the “Accept” button on the Informed Consent and Release of Liability page.
  • Click “Sign Up” again.
  • Do not pay if prompted;
  • Once you arrive to climb, enter the main entrance of the SCRC, scan your ID at the control desk, then check-in at the OMOD Office.

Refunds:

One Time Pass Refund:

In the event that an activity is cancelled and a participant has already applied their one-time pass, they will be able to apply it to another activity or claim a refund within 2 weeks of cancellation by emailing omod@olemiss.edu. 

Unlimited Semester and Unlimited Annual Pass Refunds:

A participant may request a refund for an unlimited semester or annual pass up to 2 weeks after their pass purchase so long as the pass has not been applied to any activity.

In the event that the bouldering wall should close due to unforeseen circumstances, participants who have not used their semester pass will receive a full climb pass credit to be applied the following semester. Participants that have used their semester pass one time will be eligible to receive a climb pass credit for 50% of the purchase price to be applied to the following semester. Participants who have used their semester pass 2 or more times will not be eligible to receive a credit. Students who are graduating prior to the following semester will be eligible to receive a refund instead of receiving a pass credit.


Student Employment

To become a climbing wall attendant or supervisor, students must complete the Campus Recreation hiring process (click here). Certifications Required: Belay & Wall Training and American Red Cross First Aid/CPR.
