YogaFit Level One Teacher Training (host-site)

Location: South Campus Recreation Center, Studio 210

Dates: October 16th & 17th

Register with YogaFit today: Register before 9/16/21 – $450 |Register from 9/17/21 to 10/9/21 – $480

Description: The first step on the path toward becoming a yoga teacher or simply deepening your practice, YogaFit Level One provides the tools to create inspiring vinyasa yoga classes grounded in proper alignment and the safety of exercise science. While there are no prerequisites for this course, YogaFit requires all attendees read Beth Shaw’s YogaFit prior to attending. This book explains the foundation of their entire teacher training program, and allows for better overall understanding of the material covered in the Level One Training. American Council on Exercise Certification Prep Courses

Group Fitness Instructor Prep Course (open to currently enrolled UM students only)

Meeting Days & Times: Mondays & Wednesdays, 2:00pm-4:00pm, September 13th-November 17th

Location: Virtual via Zoom and in person at the South Campus Recreation Center, room TBD

Course Fee: $50.00

Description: The objective of this course is to prepare prep course students in feeling confident teaching many different modalities of group fitness, to deliver a quality experience to their future class participants, prepare to take and pass their ACE certification exam and potentially audition to become a group fitness instructor with Ole Miss Campus Recreation. The course will provide base knowledge in group fitness fundamentals, class preparation and design, elements of leading various classes and much more! An online blackboard class will also be utilized for the course information and weekly assignments, along with a hybrid classroom format including zoom calls and in person meetings. Zoom call schedule and in person meetings will be determined weekly, as the class progresses. Prep course participants should expect to cover a minimum of two chapters weekly and have weekly and written assignments to complete outside of the scheduled class meeting times.

Personal Trainer Prep Course (open to currently enrolled UM students only)

Meeting Days & Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3:00pm-5:00pm, September 14th-November 18th

Location: Virtual via Zoom and in person at the South Campus Recreation Center, room TBD

Course Fee: $50.00

Description: The objective of this course is to prepare prep course students in attaining the base knowledge needed to begin a part-time career in personal training. This course should prepare individuals with a basic knowledge in human anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition and the ability to apply these in order to deliver quality health and fitness programs for clients. This course, along with additional individual preparation, should give course participants the confidence to sit and pass their ACE PT certification exam. An online blackboard class will also be utilized for the course information and weekly assignments, along with a hybrid classroom format including zoom calls and in person meetings. Zoom call schedule and in person meetings will be determined weekly, as the class progresses. An audition process toward the end of the course will be used for those individuals who are interested in working as a PT for Ole Miss Campus Recreation. Prep course participants should expect to cover a minimum of two chapters weekly and have weekly and written assignments to complete outside of the scheduled class meeting times.

 

Registration and completion of these courses does not guarantee the following:

1.     Employment with Ole Miss Campus Recreation

2.     Certification with American Council on Exercise (individuals must pass their certification exam through ACE and outside preparation from the course days and times is highly recommended)

3.     Academic credit—This is a NON-ACADEMIC credit course
