Outdoor Adventure Trips & Events

Join Ole Miss Outdoors (OMOD) for one of our exciting adventure trips, educational clinics, skill-based certifications, or campus & community events. Many of our trips and events are designed for people of all abilities and skill levels. Adventure trips (denoted with an * below) are open to students, faculty, staff, and community, ages 18 and older. All other events are open to ages 8 and older unless otherwise stated. We follow CDC guidance regarding COVID-19 and group transportation.

Upcoming Adventures  

Friday, May 20 | 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Campfires & Cooking Demo – South Campus Rec Center
$5 Students / $10 Community | Register 
We will teach you to build several types of safe and effective campfires that are suitable for cooking at your campsite. We will also demonstrate how to cook a delicious meal in cast iron cookware, and show you several resources for recipes. 

Tuesday, June 7 | 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Intro to Geocaching | South Campus Rail Trail 
FREE – drop-in event
Meet us at the trailhead, and we will explore the surrounding areas for geocaches. Geocaching is the recreational activity of hunting for and finding a hidden object by means of GPS coordinates posted online or using the Geocaching app. 

Saturday, June 25 | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Canoe the Little Tallahatchie River* | Abbeville, MS
$10 Students / $15 Community | Register 
There’s not many better ways to relax than floating downstream in a canoe.  Join the OMOD trip leaders and meet new friends as we partner up and float the Little Tallahatchie River, starting at Graham lake and ending at the Hwy 7 boat ramp.

Friday, July 1 | 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Stand-Up Paddle Board* | Sardis Lake, MS
$10 Students / $15 Community | Register 
Spend a relaxing day hanging out at the white sand beach of Sardis lower lake.  Join us as we enjoy some sun and fun with great people. This trip is beginner friendly and our trip leaders will help you find your balance. 

Monday, July 18: 5:00-6:30 p.m.
Intro to Climbing Clinic | SCRC – Climbing Wall 
$5 Students / $10 Community | Register
Our trained climbing wall instructors will teach you the basics of rock climbing and an introduction to belaying in this fun and interactive clinic  No experience is required, and all gear is included.

Tuesday, August 11 | 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Tails on the Trails | South Campus Rail Trail
FREE – drop-in event
Bring Fido (on a leash) and stop by the trail kiosk for some treats! Mix and mingle with other members of the canine community. Learn about trail etiquette and discover ways you and your pup can recreate together!
